DivKid - Zombie EP

DivKid is back with a new track 'Zombie' this time taking an influence from progressive house and techno all thrown into a melting pot with his usual electro sound. The track is dark and full of tension which works well with its Zombie title. The track has been with remixed by HAS!, Autophase, KANEDUBSTEP, P-Styles and Electronic Beach to form a strong a and varied EP that will be 21st release for Lung Filler Records.

Original Mix
The original starts off with a heavy electro/techno style kick and percussion DJ intro, that builds in rhythm patterns and a dissonant siren synth. It then breaks into a evolving and modulating bassline. As the synths enter, more tension is created with the dotted 8th note synths running over the constant deep bass. The filtered back pads, modulating sirens and minor feeling chord progression continues to add tension right though the breakdown. Which then introduces the main lead line which is a rich and lush synth. The peak of the track gives you exactly what you want, but not necessarily how you might expect. It then progresses to a heavy DJ outro.

There is also a radio edit of the track.

HAS! remix
HAS! starts with a similar electro DJ intro as the origin but changes direction by using a mini break down, before turning the track into a dirty cut up monster made up of re sampled cuts and new synth layers. Expect wobbles, gnarls and beat repeats to sit on top of a nice electro groove. The journey of the track progresses through numerous breakdowns and build ups. Each peak gives the listener new and synths, samples and rhythms to keep the track engaging for the dance floor. HAS! ends his remix with a strong DJ outro.

Autophase Remix
Autophase remix starts with a heavy kick and a new interpretation of the Zombie bassline. White noise and percussion builds to a thicker bassline and crisp hi hats. This prolonged build up creates tension for the chord progression and laser style modulated synths. Which build up in density until the next groove and white noise blasts drop.

KANEDUBSTEP Remix
KANEDUBSTEP does what he does best with this heavy and intense dubstep remix. However, we see a new dimension to his talents, as he starts the track with old school heavy rave style sounds and and metal style tom rolls. The track incorporates many layers and textures. The builds consist of a classically interpreted chord progression played on cryptic organ. The original lead line is cut up with effects added. The builds also use a soft piano in a juxtaposition of very heavy drums and glitchy synths. The heavy dubstep sections consist of the pounding drums and a harsh resonant snare. The four-to-the-flour sections contain the same harsh drums, a chromatic lead line and a heavily overdriven subby bass. The track works it's way through so many mini breakdowns and drops to keep the energy and spontaneity as high as possible. This track would sit well in a lot of futuristic action movies.

P-Styles Remix
P-Styles has create a techno version of Zombie by using soft percussive synths grooves and adding white noises and textures over it. A tech-house style vocal is introduced into the groove, along with long lasting drones and laser type sound effects. The break down sees the first introduction to the original chord progression which stutters under the glitchy 32nd note synth line. The track then returns to the tech-house groove that eventually leads to the chords and 32nd note synth from the breakdown. The track ends with a DJ friendly outro.

Electronic Beach Remix
Electronic Beach starts with a DJ intro consisting of a kick, thin drones and bleepy synths. The dotted 8th note pattern is quickly introduced, along with the original lead line that an adapted bassline. The song builds in density and tension until the chord progression is introduced. A small breakdown then builds straight back into the techno beat and syncopated synth rhythms. The track swells and and contracts, allowing new elements to filter in and out of the mix. The track finishes with the sirens build up followed by a impromptu kick drum outro.
