KANEDUBSTEP - Seizure EP Remixed


After KANEDUBSTEP's original EP 'Seizure' released with us earlier this year we're back with a remix EP; featuring new takes on the original tracks. The 'Seizure Remix EP' features 3 remixes of 'Darksky VIP' (from DivKid, Dubtek and Electronic Beach) a remix of Sinensis (Originally produced with Budzak) from Reverend Pariah and finally a remix of Seizure by Monktec.

Darksky VIP (DivKid Remix)
Opening up the EP is the DivKid remix of Darksky VIP. The tracks uses the classically influenced chords from the original and transforms them a peak time cut up electro monster. It builds tension throughout by pedaling single chords through the body of the track, before slowing adding small sections of the chord progression. Tough drums push the track forward before hitting the breakdown, which sees the full chord progression work as a bed for the piano melody from the original. The peak punches in with the massive kick and cut up distorted synths and basses working across the full chord progression. A counter melody builds tension through the peak, before winding down into a DJ friendly outro.

Sinensis (Reverend Pariah Remix)
Reverend Pariah builds heavy distorted sounds across a DJ friendly intro before working up to the first drop. Textures and original samples build and swell into a heavy filthy electro take on the track. The original dubstep bass parts are stretched and cut as they modulate and stutter over the tough drum groove. Spontaneous granular rhythms build the percussion before heading into a short breakdown, which features echoing sounds from the original track. A new percussive arpeggio builds to unleashed the peak of the track.

Darksky VIP (Dubtek Remix)
Dubtek builds a lush melodic intro from the original chords, synth pads, strings and piano. Textures build and swell throughout as the track grows. Drums are introduced slowly as they build up the original piano melody and string swells. The tension is reverted with the chordal piano parts taking over the forefront of the mix. Kicking in with simple but tough dubstep drums, the original bass sounds hold across the mix with the LFO pulsing the sounds under the hi hat patterns. The track features numerous sharp stops and drops, which keep each section hitting hard. Melodic elements are re-introduced in the breakdown that builds before winding down to what feels like the end of the track, before smashing back in for the final peak of muted bass sound and huge drums.

Seizure (Monktec Remix)
Monktec starts the track with textural hits that reverberate around the mix, before the 'wet' percussion hits over the deep kick drum. The droning bass throbs and pulses under the mix, while the original sounds echo throughout. Drums build with new layers added and textures swelling across the mix, before reaching the breakdown. The breakdown introduces the original spoken word samples and a long pitch rising resonant pad. The peak of the track drives a lot harder than the earlier sections would suggest with the pitch rises and textures moving over the tightly programmed drum grooves.

Darksky VIP (Electronic Beach Remix)
Electronic Beach builds up a DJ friendly intro based around a flamming kick pattern and building layers of hi hats and percussion. The track works elements of early 90s progressive and electronica over the drum grooves with synthetic pad sounds building and modulating throughout. Overall the arrangement is smooth with new sounds working in and out with smooth and long evolving changes.. A very original and different take on the track that ends the EP nicely.
