Following Ell-Er's debut release on Lung Filler Records. He's back with the Bubbles EP this time with a selection of remixes of the original tracks. The EP features both original tracks, If You Die and Negative Positive remixed by Luca De Lorso (formally Deadbeat Dad), TH Moy, Gau5 and Fred White. The tracks offer different styles and new takes on the original tracks, whilst fitting into the Deep House, Tech House and Techno genres.
If You Die - Luca De Lorso
Luca De Lorso starts off his remix with a neat DJ-friendly intro, consisting of Kick, Snare and hi-hat. He quickly works the original vocal sample into the groove. The groove builds with the modulated bass and percussion being added, before the track winds down into a simple breakdown of snare, chord swells and the side-chained vocal sample. The groove picks up again quickly with more chord stabs and white noise bursts. The song constantly builds and falls in dynamics and pace, until it sits on a very simple bet very effective groove with an even deeper bass. The song has huge amounts of depth and space, allowing individual parts to sit and groove in their own way.
Negative Positive - TH Moy
TH Moy gets straight to the point with a brilliant tech-house groove. His own percussion and strong groove works perfectly with the original synth stabs and chord progression. He adds his own stabs and more percussion for a lift in pace, before introducing his percussive sounding arpeggio. The stutters and rolls in the arpeggio give the track a feeling of spontaneity and excitement. The track winds down into a simple drums and bass groove for a friendly DJ outro.
If You Die - Gau5
Gau5 takes a different approach and starts his remix with wet sounding percussive elements, He then introduces a steady but modest groove. The track winds down into rising and falling sound effects, coupled with bleeps and beat repeats. This creates and sustains tension until the beat returns. The groove builds steadily, before it filters out into the wet percussive sounds for an outro.
Negative Positive - Fred White Remake
Fred White has taken a deep techno approach for his remix. The track starts with a short punchy kick and tuned percussive hits, which is perfect as a DJ friendly intro. a blast of white noise introduces the hard offbeat bass as well as the chords stabs from the original track. The track slowly develops pace by introducing more white noise swooshes and the hi hat. The track winds down into just the bass and introduces the chord progression from the original track. The dynamics build and fall to create tension, before progressing back into the kick drum and heavy bass. The peak of the track continues building with new percussive elements and chords filtering in, before dropping back to a DJ friendly outro.
