P-Styles - Emerge Behind The Smoke EP
Emerge Behind The Smoke features two new original tunes from P-Styles. Both Emerge and Behind The Smoke sit comfortably in the realms of techno and tech-house. Remixes from Simon Firth, Electro Beach, Clayton Sane and Mko DJ push the genres further afield with new influences and takes on the track.
Emerge builds a driving techno groove over sub bass and stutter arpeggio patterns. The arrangement is smooth with developing textures that are sure to get the dancefloor moving.
Behind The Smoke features a similar smooth arrangement with influences of early progressive house, through pad and chordal textures. Deceptively, the bass doesn't root the chords as expected, which gives a dark twist to the main hook in the bassline.
Simon Firth's remix of Emerge is similar to the progressive house/techno style by artists that surround John Digweed's Bedrock label. Smooth developing textures colour the track with a haunting feel, while tightly programmed percussion develops throughout.
Electronic Beach makes use of the original sounds from Emerge, while building his own complex array of developing percussion, that all slots into the mix perfectly. Keeping within the original theme, the track is driving and great to warm up the dancefloors.
The Claytonsane remix of Behind The Smoke sits in within the realms of warm up sets and afterhours sets. With a stripped back feel perfect for getting things going or winding down more peak time sets.
Mko Dj rounds off the EP with his remix of Behind The Smoke. Building eastern style percussion instruments and haunting textures the track feels dischordant and spooky while maintaining a consistency with the original bassline underpinning the track.
