Ell-Er - Mind Ghosts EP

The Mind Ghosts EP will be the 17th release for Lung Filler Records and it sees the return of Ell-Er to the label after his previous EP 'Bubbles'. The EP features two original tracks 'For Those Of You' and 'Tech' along with Ell-Er's alternative 'Shoulderpad Mix' of 'Tech'. Accompanying those tracks are remixes from P-Styles and Tek No Bee. The whole EP works across a varied range of Techno and Tech House.

For Those Of You (Original Mix)
Ell-Er kicks off the EP with a strong percussive intro that hints at the stuttering and swinging groove that's to come. The main hook is introduced as the drums slowly fade before the monstrous bass slams in and grabs your attention immediately. The track grooves and pushes with the its deep throbbing and bit crushed bass, while the main chordal hook stutters over wonky percussion, as the straight drive of the main drums keeps the track moving. The arrangement is smooth with elements moving in and out of the mix before a short a spacious break in the middle. The journey starts again with the infectious deep and dirty groove.

Tech (Original Mix)
Tech starts with a deep sub bass line and a strong kick and clap. Tight percussion works on top of the main drums while reverbs swells fade in and out of the mix. A bit crushed vowel synth hits on top of the drums and introduces the main static chord. An awkward fidgeting sound works its way into the background of the mix and a short breaks gives it focus, before the crushed vowel sound slams the track back in the full groove. Percussion builds and drops throughout, creating an exciting arrangement that allows sound to move between the forefront and background of the mix.

Tech (Shoulder Pad Mix)
This is an alternative mix provided by the original artist Ell-Er. It's great to see the original artist providing a varied and different approach to the track while pushing into a new sound and style. This mix is more spacious and provides a hypnotic new lead line that works over the whole track. The original chord hits, reverse, stutter and swell under the new lead while the drums are more steady and straight driving the track. The surprise of the track comes at almost 2 minutes in, with the new bass line that adds a deeper, more bouncing percussive element to the mix. New sounds work into the mix with hits and stutters appearing across the arrangement. The track features a short break, like the original that helps build anticipation before the final drop.

For Those Of You (P-Styles Remix)
P-Styles introduces a new groove and a deep swinging bass line that works the sub underneath the main groove and percussion. The track introduces the main chordal hook and uses the same sound from the original as percussive elements build through the arrangement. The track introduces new percussive hits and fills that work smoothly through the arrangement.

Tech (Tek-No-Bee Remix)
Tek-No-Bee ups the tempo significantly, giving the track a much faster pace and relentless feel. Pecussion, synth hits and noises all pans and echoes around the mix as the intro builds. These sounds carry through as the track hits with a resonant distorted synth kick/bass. White Noises builds through the track keeping the tension building throughout. The original sounds feature in the first short breakdown before the brutal kick and percussion drives the remix back into hard techno mode.
